Around the corner from Sheffield and Tower 8 is Bridge 19, the location of four main tracks with crossovers. The Santa Fe was a main tennant of the KCT trackage through here, from Big Blue Jct., past Union Station to Santa Fe Jct, where home rails were again reached. On May 5, 1979, a westbound Santa Fe freight passes under Bridge 19 as three other trains, including a Rock Island work train, a UP freight and a KCT transfer approach the signal bridge. The Rock Island work train will leave the KCT at Sheffield, heading south on the Frisco to Leeds Jct., where it will reach the Rock’s St. Louis line. (Dale Hearn)
