“Rails Around” returns to Monticello Railway Museum

I will be returning to the Monticello Railway Museum Saturday-only, September 19 at their Railroad Days festival! Come out, ride and photograph the trains, and pick up a copy of Rails Around Central Illinois, Southern Illinois, and see the hard-copy preview of the Northern Illinois book, due out next month!

The Central Illinois book includes shots like the one above of the Wabash’s Banner Blue, captured at Bement in July 1964 (Michael J Kelly) as it heads north for Monticello and Chicago. The Northern Illinois book will be my biggest book ever, at 360 pages and 1000 color photos from 1950-2010, mostly 1965-85. I will have the advanced hard copy on hand to examine and see just how big it is.

The Southern Illinois book is down to less than 100 copies, and the Central less than 250 out of 1000. The Northern already has sold 150 of the 1000 copies and with Chicago as a main coverage area, will sell out fast. You can see all of the titles currently available here.
