Bevier featured an interchange with a coal-hauling shortline, the Bevier & Southern. This shortline was steam-powered into the 1960s, and utilized the former CB&Q water tank located on the south side of the CB&Q mainline. In a timeless scene, the B&S crew is busy lubricating, inspecting and watering 2-6-0 #112 in preparation for the morning run to the mine at Binkley on October 15, 1962. (Tom Gildersleeve)
